Fort Monroe is not like any other. At the Casemate Museum, you can explore the history of the Fort, dating back to Captain Christopher Newport’s exploration of the Chesapeake Bay in 1607. This was an impromptu visit at the fort as I and my daughter were visiting my cousin at the local university for the day, sometime in April. My cousin suggested the visit and it was a nice suggestion. Seriously I had no idea the fort was here nor the history of it. Oh, it is totally surrounded by water.
Confederate stronghold which served ultimately as a prison for the usurper, the president of the Confederacy, Jefferson Davis. Fort Monroe stood for many years including several wars after its inception: WWI, WWII to name a few.
I took a few pictures, made one video because I was not planning to do an “On Location” piece during a family day trip. I hope you guys enjoy it and look for another On Location soon.
